About this policy
This policy explains how the operator of kiamatreeremoval.com.au handles personal information collected through this website and through calls to (02) 4214 4543.
We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
Kiama Tree Removal is a referral website. That matters here, because the main reason we collect your details is to pass them to a tree contractor who can quote your job. Our Disclaimer explains that arrangement in full.
Last updated: August 2026.
What we collect
Only what is needed to get you a quote:
- Your name.
- A phone number, and an email address if you give one.
- The suburb or street address of the job — Kiama, Gerringong, Jamberoo, Minnamurra or wherever the tree is.
- What you have told us about the work — species, size, access, urgency, and any photos you choose to send.
If you ring us, the same details get taken over the phone. Calls may be recorded or logged for quality and record-keeping purposes; if you would rather they were not, say so at the start of the call.
We do not ask for financial information on this website. Nobody from this site will ever ask you for banking or credit card details by email. Payment, if any, is arranged directly between you and the contractor who does the work.
Automatically collected technical data
Like most websites, this one records basic technical information: IP address, browser type, device, referring page, and which pages were viewed. It is used in aggregate to understand what people are looking for and to keep the site working. It is not used to build a personal profile of you.
Cookies may be set by the site and by third-party services such as analytics or advertising tools. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Some parts of the site, including the enquiry form, may not work properly if you do.
Why we collect it
- To respond to your enquiry.
- To refer that enquiry to an independent tree contractor working in the Kiama area so they can contact you and quote.
- To follow up on a quote or a booking.
- To keep basic records of enquiries received.
- To improve the website and the information on it.
We do not sell your personal information.
Who your information is shared with
The contractor. This is the important one. When you make an enquiry, your name, contact details, location and job description are passed to one or more independent tree contractors so they can get in touch. Once they have it, they hold it under their own privacy obligations, not ours.
Service providers. The enquiry form on this site is delivered by third-party form and lead-management software, and the site is hosted by a third-party provider. Those providers may store data on servers located outside Australia. We use them to run the website and manage enquiries, nothing else.
Where the law requires it. We will disclose information if we are legally obliged to.
That is the list. No mailing lists sold, no data brokers.
How long it is kept, and how it is protected
Enquiry records are kept for as long as they are reasonably needed for the purpose above and for ordinary business record-keeping, then deleted or de-identified.
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold. No online system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of anything transmitted over the internet.
Marketing
If we contact you after an enquiry, it will be about that enquiry. If you ever receive a marketing message from us, it will include an unsubscribe option, and unsubscribing takes effect promptly.
Accessing, correcting or deleting your information
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Ring (02) 4214 4543 and tell us what you need.
We may need to confirm your identity before acting on the request. If we cannot do what you have asked, we will explain why.
Note that if a contractor already holds a copy of your details because you asked us to refer the job, you will need to contact them separately about their records.
Complaints
If you think your privacy has been mishandled, raise it with us first on (02) 4214 4543 and we will look into it. If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you can take the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
